The 10 Best US Islands for Your Summer Getaway

Categories: , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

There’s something about an island that fuels our vacation fantasies. Whether we’re drawn to sugar soft beaches and calm seas or rocky coasts and roiling surf, island vacations deliver beautiful scenery, sweet relaxation, and often bountiful activities.

To find some of the best, consider the winners of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice island awards. The top spot in both the US and the world, according to users of the travel booking site, is Maui, HI.

If these pretty places come with premium prices, TripAdvisor suggests vacationing during shoulder season, the period in between the slow season and peak travel season. “While most of these islands have year-round appeal, TripAdvisor hotel booking data shows that bargain-hunters can save nearly 30% per night on average when staying at the top US islands during the shoulder season rather than the peak.”
